The New North: Security, resilience and cooperation in a changing Northern Europe

The New North is not a place on the map, but a new strategic reality. Northern Europe is becoming a more closely integrated security and defence region: cooperation across the Nordic region is deepening, alongside closer ties with the Baltic states and growing strategic attention on the Arctic. Together, these developments are reshaping the security environment for governments, defence organisations and industry. With Finland and Sweden in NATO, the Nordic-Baltic region has become a single security space - and at the same time a frontline for critical infrastructure, rearmament and technological competition.

Nordic Defence Conference 2027 brings together leaders and decision-makers from government, defence, industry and academia to examine how these developments are shaping regional security, resilience and cooperation.

Under the theme "The New North," the conference will address topics including:

• Regional cooperation and industrial partnerships: Building capability through closer work between governments, armed forces and industry.
• Critical infrastructure, cyber security and resilience: Countering hybrid threats and protecting critical infrastructure and digital systems.
• Defence capabilities and readiness: Advancing readiness and capability development as the security environment evolves.
• Technology, innovation and the future defence ecosystem: Harnessing emerging technologies, industrial innovation and public–private collaboration.

Participants will gain insight into how governments, defence organisations and businesses are responding to a changing security environment, and where greater coordination can strengthen regional preparedness and capabilities.

The conference is organized in collaboration with PwC’s Nordic teams in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland and will be held in English. It is specifically designed for leaders, investors, and decision-makers from government, defence, industry, and academia across Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland.
