Curtailing operations in Russia

We have decided to cancel the event due to too few participants.

Nevertheless, we would like to share the gathered insights about managing Russian business divestments.

If you have any subject-related questions or need assistance in carving out the business unit – feel free to reach out Helle Hee and Katharina Oglotkina.

  • Since February 24th almost 1,000 international companies have curtailed operations in Russia, although only 60% of announcements converted into deals, the percentage of closed deals is rather low.
  • Most Danish companies with a presence in Russia have decided to withdraw or suspend their operations.

Key challenges international businesses are facing with:

  • Deal structuring and fair business valuation for the purposes of withdrawal
  • Finding a potential buyer
  • Time-consuming process of carving out deeply integrated businesses
  • Unclear rules of trademarks and technologies usage after a potential divestment
  • Getting a pre-approval from the Russian Government
  • Local practicalities, such as changes in laws and interaction with authorities
